A team of Chicago Public Schools (CPS) teachers, historians, educators and CPS representatives is working to create the initial draft of the school curriculum about Burge torture to be taught to 8th and 10th graders in Chicago Public Schools.

CPS is currently reviewing curriculum for three to five week classes – titled “Reparations Won: A Case Study in Police Torture, Racism And the Movement for Justice in Chicago.” This was developed through the CPS Department of Social Science and Civic Engagement for eighth and 10th graders beginning in the 2017/18 school year. See a CBS News story on this.

CTJM will continue to press on to properly implement all components of the reparations legislation.
